Commanditaire Vennootschap (CV)
The Commanditaire Vennootschap (CV), often translated as a limited partnership, is a business structure that shares certain similarities with the VOF, or general partnership. What distinguishes the CV is the existence of two distinct types of partners. The first is the managing partner, responsible for the routine, day-to-day operations of the business. Contrastingly, the second type is the limited or ‘silent’ partner, whose main function is financial backing. This role is thus referred to as ‘silent’ because their engagement with the business is essentially monetary and they do not generally participate in the daily managerial activities. This business setup optimises the balance between management and financial support, making the CV an effective and efficient organisational structure for many enterprises. By encompassing both managerial expertise and financial investment, the Commanditaire Vennootschap facilitates a harmonious blend of function and funding, enhancing business potential.
