Indonesia and Turkey Push for Digital Economic Cooperation
Indonesia believes that the digital economy is the solution to the global economic crisis at the Bosphorus Summit because of the cross-border economy it can facilitate.
With the support of a good ecosystem, a spillover into the non-digital economic sector is possible. The COVID-19 pandemic caused an economic downturn and the digital economy is the solution.
The digital economy is the solution because there is no sector constraints or distance. In 2016, the digital economy was valued at US$11 trillion (Rp158,640 trillion). By 2025, the value is expected to more than double. This year, the Indonesia digital economy is estimated to reach US$40 billion (Rp676,9 trillion).
Both Turkey and Indonesia have been pushing for cooperation on the digital economic front this year. The Bosphorus Summit brought together CEOs, politicians, policymakers, academics, social organisations, senior journalists, and non-governmental organisation activists. This was the Balkan region’s strategic forum and was the first forum on an international scale since COVID-19.
